Talkiatry Recognized by the American Medical Association for its Dedication to Clinician Well-Being

NEW YORK, Oct. 8, 2026
Talkiatry supports its national team of 800+ psychiatrists through peer support groups, clinician listening sessions, and a formal well-being committee.
NEW YORK, Oct. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Talkiatry, the nation’s largest private employer of psychiatrists and the preferred in-network psychiatry partner for more than 70 U.S. health systems, today announced it has earned recognition from the American Medical Association (AMA) as a Joy in Medicine® organization.

The prestigious recognition from the country’s leading physician association honors health systems, hospitals, and medical groups that prioritize proven methods to reduce burnout and enhance the professional fulfillment of doctors that comes from patient care. Organizations that meet the rigorous criteria of the Joy in Medicine Health System Recognition Program are leaders in the national effort to transform healthcare work systems and address the root causes of burnout among care teams.
Burnout rates continue to decline, yet U.S. physicians remain at higher risk for burnout relative to other U.S. workers. Systemic drivers like administrative burden, staffing shortages and stigma around mental health continue to plague the physician experience and contribute to the day-to-day stressors facing physicians today. Continued efforts are essential to ensure doctors receive the support they need to thrive and achieve national health goals.
“As a fully virtual, national psychiatry practice, we have to think differently about how we support our clinicians. Our psychiatrists don’t have the same opportunities to connect informally that they might in a traditional practice. There’s no shared break room or hallway conversation between shifts,” said Dr. Georgia Gaveras, DO, co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of Talkiatry. “That’s why we’ve been very intentional about building support structures into the technology and workflows our psychiatrists already use every day, and making them convenient, accessible, and effective.”
Talkiatry takes a multifaceted approach to clinician well-being, reflected in its workforce model, technology and dedicated support programs. The company employs its clinicians full-time, with a focus on long-term well-being, while its technology helps reduce administrative burden — a leading driver of physician burnout nationally — by automating documentation and care coordination. These efforts are complemented by programs that give clinicians opportunities to share feedback, connect with peers and access support, including:
- Clinician Roundtables: Small-group listening sessions where treating psychiatrists meet virtually with leadership to share feedback on the practice environment, clinical workflows and systems that shape their day-to-day work. Discussions have addressed topics including administrative support, pain points with new and evolving processes, compensation, EHR challenges, and collaboration across psychiatrists, nurse practitioners and therapists. Key themes and action areas are shared with relevant stakeholders across the organization to inform ongoing improvements.
- Peer Support Program: A confidential, peer-led resource that gives clinicians support when navigating difficult patient encounters, critical or adverse events, burnout or work-life balance concerns.
- Clinician Well-Being Committee: Reviews findings from Talkiatry’s annual clinician burnout assessment and works collaboratively to identify areas for improvement and develop recommendations for clinical leadership.
“Supporting physician well-being helps create better care for everyone,” said AMA President Willie Underwood III, MD, MSc, MPH. “Studies show that when physicians are supported, patients benefit from safer care, higher quality, and a better overall experience. Organizations recognized by the Joy in Medicine Program are leading the way by investing in workplaces that support physicians and help them deliver compassionate, high-quality care. The AMA is proud to honor these leaders for their commitment to physician well-being and healthier communities.”
Since its inception in 2019, the AMA Joy in Medicine Health System Recognition Program has recognized more than 250 organizations across the country. Recognition levels are valid for two years. This year, a total of 92 health organizations nationwide earned recognition with documented efforts to reduce system-level drivers of work-related burnout and demonstrated competencies in commitment, assessment, leadership, efficiency of practice environment, teamwork, and support. Organizations that earned 2026-2027 recognition join a strong group of currently recognized organizations from the 2025-2026 program, bringing the currently recognized cohort to 194 recognized organizations.
